I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to acknow-
ledge the receipt of your letter of the 2nd. instant
Jo
No. 338 on the subject of the criticisms made by Sir
F. May against the attitude adopted by Mr. Consul
General Jamieson towards the Kwantung Opium Regula-

and His Majesty's Minister at Peking that there is no
foundation for the charges brought against that
officer, and he agrees in thinking that, as Sir F. May

Fiji, there would be no object in bringing the matter
officially before him and that it is sufficient if
copies of the correspondence are sent to the Colonial
Government.
